FIRST POST! aka MY-EXCUSE-FOR-A-POST-BUT-I'M-REALLY-JUST-BRAGGING

first post! yey!

haven't you noticed how your first post always has to be some piece of art?
something that says: "i'm such an awesome blog entry for a first"
or "i'm so cool, you should go tell others i exist" or anything just so it wont be what bloggers (though i've never admitted to being one) dread:
"im such a piece of crap, you're in the wrong blog page" or "i'm the blog you're mom warned you about"

crappy right? im not necessarily meaning to pressure myself to making an 'awesome' blog entry. (not that i care) just something that i think is really blog-worthy, at least for me. so after some kick-ass brain storming, i've decided that my first entry will be about...(drum roll) tentenenentenen! my updharma down experience last night! (yeah i know, that didn't take too much thinking) okay okay. you may or may not know who they are.(most of you probably do) but what the heck. since you've probably started read this you might as well read on.

about two weeks ago. my brother had delivered news that would have changed my life forever (haha. couldn't get any more cheesy than that!)
up dharma down would be performing in kai's bar for jack's ridge's 10th year anniversary. yey! i couldn't believe it myself, i was finally given the chance to hear them live! sooo to cut to the chase, last night, we were there, my brother and i, wide eyed and ecstatic. it's not every day you get to be in the same air and a few feet (inches later that night)away from one of your favorite bands ever. udd came a bit later than expected. the front act was okay, but the audience were already begging for what they came for. but finally around 9.30 p.m. armi millare(vocalist) walked by from behind us and went straight back stage. armi lost a looot of weight and we wouldn't have recognized her if not for her dreamy eyes. she was sporting a new 'do (she was pixie-haired now) candy red nails and ill bet that was 4-inch high heels. other than that, she was just as i expected: quiet, reserved and uber awesome. there are such bands, you know, the kinds that just cut the crap and do what they do best: speak through their music. and there are very few bands who can live up to such a name.

so aaaanyway, after the long wait. there they were! not in the subliminal but in high definition reality. they opened their set with 'we give in sometimes' which was an awesome song(along with every single song they've come up with), off their first album, fragmented. they truly exceeded my expectations. they really were better live. none of their songs sounded like the ones from the album because they were all better, adlib-ed, fx-ed, riffed and improvised but pretty much just your perfect blend of heaven.
hearing them like that literally sent chills up my spine. it was like watching your dream, only you really were a part of it, and when you pinch yourself you're reminded that it was real. that same nostalgic feeling when i was in a crowd of people before bamboo and pupil--the kind of feeling that could last a lifetime of happiness.

carlos tanada(with an 'enye', sorry for the code illiteracy) on guitars was the most indifferent among them. i guess all 'rockers' are stereotypically like that--feeding off bowls of attitude for breakfast. but it was cool nonetheless. you came there for music, they give it to you in spoonfulls. ean on drums and paul on bass and noise made up for it too. they were sooo cool and laid back and just grinning the whole time they were playing. paul was uber cute, the kind that reminds you of that chubby geek who's all smiles back from your high school dreams who you secretly had a crush on. ean was more of the quiet, laid-back type. just a tad more forgiving than the guitarist, which was just right for my taste. (i'd decided afterwards that he would be my crush in the band)

the set went on dreamily. it was like floating on a lukewarm haze of bliss and total euphoria.
some nine songs went on: taya, sana, every first second, all year round, we give in sometimes, clockwork, silid, hiwaga, oo (the only song that made sense to the poser-fans), and wrapped it up with their last song pag-agos and asked us to come on stage. of course who would pass up that chance right? so before i knew it i was a few inches from carlos (lead guitars) and a heaven's breath away from armi (she truly is an angel up close).

sigh.really. i could just go on and rant about what happened to who and how. what armi told my brother and what she asked me, and how the rest of the night went on dream sequence mode all through out. bottom line: perfect night. worth 'every first second' of waiting.:)

starstruck moment!

p.s. hope this post does not live up to your expectation. by now you've probably noticed that im just really raving about my kick-ass encounter with an awesome band. so sue me! :p
